PRE-ENTRIES

AIKENITE - late runner finished 8th in the Dirt Mile last year. One Mile may be too long and six furlongs has been too short. He's in a tough horse betting spot.

AMAZOMBIE - risen to the top of the sprint horse betting ranks in California and should get a favorable pace horse betting scenario in this race.

APRIORITY - highly inconsistent but did run his best horse betting race over this track earlier in the year. He can make it a race with his best.

BIG DRAMA - won this horse betting race last year but his 2011 campaign has been limited. Many wonder whether he is 100% ready for this.

CALEB'S POSSE - first preference is the Dirt Mile. Back to one turn where he was rock solid this horse betting summer at Saratoga. Should get a fast pace.

EUROREARS - completely taken out of his game in recent horse betting prep. If The Factor goes in the Dirt Mile he will be the one to catch.

FORCE FREEZE - current form says he has a real horse betting chance, but can he hold it together for one more race against this kind of horse betting field?

GIANT RYAN - hard to fault a horse that has won six-straight races. Won the Vosburgh-G1 off four-month layoff, so he must avoid the "bounce."

HAMAZING DESTINY - Horse for Course finished horse betting second in this race last year. Might need career-best to get more than that this year.

JACKSON BEND - first preference is the Dirt Mile. Made huge run at Uncle Mo in the Kelso-G3 and has continued to hold strong horse betting form.

THE FACTOR - first horse betting preference is the Dirt Mile. It's unlikely Baffert sends this speedy colt out against his speedy stablemate Eurorears.

TRAPPE SHOT – first horse betting preference is the Dirt Mile. Possibly up against a speed bias last time. His best puts him squarely in the mix.

HORSE BETTING OUTLOOK

This horse betting race is completely up in the air until final entries are taken Monday, October 31. 25-precent of this field shows a "First Preference" for the Dirt Mile, and if they all choose that race we'll be left with only eight starters in this race - that would be the smallest horse betting field in the history of this event.

It's doubtful we'll see an overwhelming horse betting favorite, as the field is simply too evenly matched. There is speed to set the table and reliable closers who will be rolling late.

Even if a short field develops, this looks like a good horse betting race that could go any numbers of ways.
