PRE-ENTRIES
ANIMAL SPIRITS - after finishing second in his horse betting debut, jumped up and beat winners in the Bourbon Stakes-G3 at Keeneland.
CASPAR NETSCHER - may not have been facing Europe's best, but he has plenty of seasoning and the big horse betting field won't bother him.
COALPORT - wasn't beaten that much when second to Animal Spirits at Keeneland. Headed in the right horse betting direction.
DADDY LONG LEGS - first preference is the Juvenile. He's won two of three horse betting starts across the pond. Connections leaning towards the dirt race.
DULLAHAN - Breeders' Futurity-G1 win at Keeneland earned him a spot in the Juvenile, but horse betting connections believe he's better on turf.
FANTASTIC SONG - failed as the horse betting favorite in Grade II at Belmontut that race was run in a bog. Probably better than he showed.
FARRAAJ - well regarded by horse bettors in Europe, and any international runner with ability deserves a long look in this race.
FINALE - he's unbeaten in three starts since switching to turf, and his horse betting trainer Todd Pletcher swept both juvenile turf races last year.
LEARN - failed to impress in his stakes horse betting debut, and may be rated behind his stablemates Daddy Long Legs and Wrote.
LUCKY CHAPPY - from the horse betting connections of Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom. Ran well from a tough post in his U.S. debut.
MAJESTIC CITY - has shown horse betting distance limitations and that results in him trying turf for the first time rather than running in the Juvenile.
SHKSPEARE SHALIYAH - scored a Grade III win at the horse betting expense of Fantastic Song. Will he be equally effective if the turf is firm?
STATE OF PLAY - beat Dullahan at Saratoga and his stock rose when that horse betting colt came back to win a Grade I. Faces that one again.
WROTE - okay third in stakes debut, but wasn't exactly running against the best Europe had to offer. Connections are the selling horse betting point.
NOT SELECTED INTO THE FIELD - IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE
EXCAPER - runner-up finish to Finale at Woodbine shows he has enough horse betting talent to be included in the conversation.
DADDY NOSE BEST - deep closer might get the pace in this big horse betting field, but it also poses the risk of real traffic trouble.
GUNG HO - turf stakes winner has never a field this deep and would be among the longer prices if he gets in. Does have local horse betting connections.
TEQUILA FACTOR - has won minor stakes on turf at Louisiana Downs and Retama Park. Will be stepping into the big horse betting leagues for this.
LIQUIDITY TRAP - only a maiden win on his resume, but based on Beyer Speed Figures he's run faster than horse betting stablemate Fantastic Song.
TWO MONTHS RENT - trainer highly regarded for developing turf runners, but this colt appears to far behind these at the horse betting moment.
HORSE BETTING OUTLOOK
DADDY LONG LEGS is the only runner currently in the horse betting field with a "First Preference" for the Juvenile, so barring late scratches this field should remain mostly intact. And it shapes up as a great betting race.
Europeans are always given the first look in these turf races, and while they certainly have to be considered, it's up in the air as to whether any of the imports owns much of an edge over their U.S. horse betting rivals. It's quite possible we could see a post-time horse betting favorite in the 4/1-5/1 range.
This race is the first leg of a $1 million Guaranteed Pick Four, and most bettors (with the appropriate bankroll) will choose to "go deep" and include as many contenders as possible.
Final entries are due Monday, October 31. At that time fields will be set, horse betting post positions will be drawn and morning-line horse betting odds will be set. Be sure to check back next week for further analysis, and selections, for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.

Calder Race Course Horse Betting Journal: Week 5 - Friday, May 18th, 2012
Horse Betting Online: Rain hit the area late in the day last Wednesday, and while the main track remained “ fast ” throughout the week, horse betting handicappers did not see a race on turf until Race 11 on Saturday. The lack of racing on the grass resulted in fairly “ short ” horse betting fields, with only two races Wednesday-Friday offering ten or more starters. For the... Continue Reading
