PRE-ENTRIES
AIKENITE - first horse betting preference is the Sprint. He prefers seven furlongs but can't get it in the Sprint or Dirt Mile. Looking for minor award.
CALEB'S POSSE - back at one turn where he is most effective. Facing older horse betting runners but will be coming if the pace is fast.
JACKSON BEND - made huge run at Uncle Mo last time and that horse betting effort, combined with summer form, could make him the horse betting favorite here.
JERSEY TOWN - hasn't missed the horse betting board this year, but also hasn't won. Just doesn't seem the same since ankle surgery.
PRAYER FOR RELIEF - first horse betting preference is the Classic. Enjoyed a solid year while facing second and third-string stakes company.
RULE - this will be his toughest test in quite awhile, but his horse betting best would have him in with a fighting chance turning for home.
SHACKLEFORD - lost four-straight races since winning the Preakness-G1, but he returning to familiar surroundings for this horse betting race.
SIDNEY'S CANDY - first horse betting preference is the Mile. This race doesn't set up well for him - and really, neither does the Mile.
THE FACTOR - probably won't have to run as fast as he has in recent horse betting sprints and could take these a long way on the front end.
TO HONOR AND SERVE - first horse betting preference is the Classic. Would be among the favorites in this race, but big win in last earned him a shot in the Classic.
TRAPPE SHOT - has the right horse betting running style and certainly fast enough to beat these. Rainy weather would be a bonus.
TRES BORRACHOS - earned his spot with a Breeders' Cup Challenge win, but figures to be among the biggest horse betting prices against this field.
UNCLE MO - first preference is the Classic. Just crushed the probable horse betting favorite for this race, Jackson Bend. Headed to the Classic.
WILBURN - couldn't have had a better horse betting trip beating Shackleford last time, but may not have needed it. Seems to be improving at the right time.
NOT SELECTED INTO THE FIELD - IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE
TAPIZAR - nice win coming back from an extended horse betting layoff. This may just be too much to ask from a colt that can be hard to handle.
IRREFUTABLE - Beyer Speed Figures say he's improving. He'll need to take another step forward to contend for top horse betting honors here.
HORSE BETTING OUTLOOK
If UNCLE MO were to somehow end up in the horse betting starting gate he would be a huge horse betting favorite. But don't expect that to happen. Following his big win in the Kelso-G3 last time out his connections are going for the glory in the Classic.
Along with UNCLE MO, PRAYER FOR RELIEF and TO HONOR AND SERVE are likely to run in the Classic, and SYDNEY'S CANDY is headed to the Mile for a horse betting showdown with Goldikova. That will leave us with less than a full field.
One mile races at Churchill Downs are run around one turn, demanding a solid horse betting combination of speed and stamina. Based on form, JACKSON BEND may wind up a fairly solid horse betting favorite here, but he's far from a "lock." THE FACTOR has enough speed to lead these all the way if left unchallenged, and TRAPPE SHOT has proven fast enough on his best horse betting day.
After those three there could be a fairly large horse betting gap in the odds back to the rest.
Final horse betting entries are due Monday, October 31. At that time horse betting fields will be set, post positions will be drawn and horse betting morning-line odds will be set. Be sure to check back next week for further analysis, and selections, for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Calder Race Course Horse Betting Journal: Week 5 - Friday, May 18th, 2012
Horse Betting Online: Rain hit the area late in the day last Wednesday, and while the main track remained “ fast ” throughout the week, horse betting handicappers did not see a race on turf until Race 11 on Saturday. The lack of racing on the grass resulted in fairly “ short ” horse betting fields, with only two races Wednesday-Friday offering ten or more starters. For the... Continue Reading
