Horse Betting Online: Rain hit the area late in the day last Wednesday, and while the main track remained “ fast ” throughout the week, horse betting handicappers did not see a race on turf until Race 11 on Saturday. The lack of racing on the grass resulted in fairly “ short ” horse betting fields, with only two races Wednesday-Friday offering ten or more starters.
For the week 41 races saw an average of 7.8 starters per race. While there were eight winning horse betting favorites at even-money odds or less, the public’s choice won just 29 percent of races for the week. Thanks to eight winners between 10 / 1 and 39 / 1 horse betting odds, the average winning mutuel was $ 16.12, among the highest of all major tracks in action last week.

Horse Betting Online: There has been live racing for three horse betting weekends now at the Churchill Downs Spring/Summer Meet, and each one has seen rainy weather. First, it was an opening night hail storm. Then on Kentucky Oaks Day a severe thunderstorm warning forced an evacuation of the infield. This past Sunday it was only rain, but plenty of it, turni

Horse Betting Online: The curtain is coming down on the 2012 Spring Meet at Pimlico, but not before the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes-G1, is run this Saturday, May 19. All eyes will be on the much-anticipated rematch between Kentucky Derby winner I’LL HAVE ANOTHER and runner-up BODEMEISTER. A horse betting field of 11 or 12 is expected for the meet’s signature race.
The second-to-last week of racing saw 40 lives races, with horse betting fields averaging 7.4 starters. Horse betting favorites won right at the national average of 33 percent, yet there was only one winner above 9 / 1 odds – that winner coming home at 13 / 1. The result was a weekly average mutuel of just $ 8.24.

Horse Betting Online: Racing is in full swing at Belmont Park, and track officials will be anxiously awaiting the horse betting results down at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday, May 19, where the Preakness Stakes-G1 will be run.
Should Kentucky Derby winner I’LL HAVE ANOTHER come away victorious again, that would set the horse betting stage for a huge crowd at Belmont Park for the third leg of the Triple Crown on June 9.

Horse Betting Online: Arlington Park hosted its first full week of racing last week, and trainers turned out in force at the horse betting entry box. There were 39 races over four days, averaging 9.1 starters per race. Four races with fields of six starters or less were more than offset by 17 races featuring horse betting fields of ten or more.

Horse Betting Online: Another week of racing is in the books at Pimlico Race Course, and now the anticipation really starts to build. The highlight of the horse betting meet, the 137th Preakness Stakes-G1, will be run on Saturday, May 19 – and the Kentucky Derby winner, and only potential Triple Crown winner, I’LL HAVE ANOTHER, is already on the horse betting backstretch at Pimlico. His every move will be watched from all angles over the next ten days.
Last week there were 40 races run over fast and firm horse betting conditions, with fields averaging 7.1 starters. Horse betting favorites won 38 percent of all races, and there was only one winner above 9/1 odds. The result was a week in which the average winning mutuel was $ 9.16.

Horse Betting Online: Racing has returned to Belmont Park, and something has changed – the purses. Thanks to a local casino, purses for thoroughbred racing have seen a big horse betting increase, and that in return had brought new trainers and jockeys to this historic location. That should make for some great racing, above and beyond the horse betting meet’s highlight day, the Belmont Stakes on June 9. If we get to that date with a potential Triple Crown still on the line, the excitement and horse betting anticipation will be at fever pitch.
Belmont Park offers a massive main track and two turf courses, and through eight days of racing every surface has seen its share of racing action. There have been 78 races so far, with an average of 8.3 starters per race. There have been 28 races featuring fields of ten or more starters, and those are always a welcome sight to horseplayers.

Horse Betting Online: For the most part the rainy weather held sway last week at Calder. Even though every scheduled turf race went on the grass as planned, horse betting field size took a dip, dropping to 7 . 5 starters per race. There were only two races with more than nine starters, and both had ten.
Horse betting favorites won right at the national average of 33 percent, with the week’s highest-priced winner coming home at 13 / 1 odds. The average winning mutuel for the week was $ 10.84.

Horse Betting Online: Racing is now in full swing at Hollywood Park, and to the delight of horse bettors field size remained relatively steady – 7 . 61 starters versus 7 . 97 starters from the previous week. Five races saw fields of 11 or more, with four of those being maiden races. Horse betting favorites won three of those races, but the lowest price was 2 / 1 odds.
Overall horse betting favorites won right at the national average of 33 percent, and only four of those were even-money odds or less. There were only four double-digit winners, but it was a 57 / 1 bomber that pushed the week’s average winning mutuel to $ 13.90.

Horse Betting Online: Live racing got under way at Churchill Downs on Saturday, April 28 – the official horse betting start to “Derby Week.” Just like last year, opening day was actually opening “night,” with racing under the lights. Things were going just fine until a severe thunderstorm moved through the area, delaying the races for 58 minutes and sending fans under cover to avoid the lightning and hail. Another severe horse betting storm moved the area on Friday, Kentucky Oaks Day, leading to an evacuation of the infield and a weather delay of nearly 40 minutes.
Of course the highlights of opening horse betting week were the Kentucky Oaks, with BELIEVE YOU CAN edging clear of BROADWAY’S ALIBI after a race-long battle, and the Kentucky Derby, where I’LL HAVE ANOTHER caught race-long leader BODEMEISTER in the final furlong.

Horse Betting Online: The 2011-2012 thoroughbred meet at Tampa Bay Downs kicked off back on December 3, and after more than 900 races the curtain came down last Sunday. The race for leading trainer was over early in the horse betting meet, as Jamie Ness simply dominated from start to finish. Ness finished with 79 winners, 47 more than runner-up Gerald Bennett. Ness won a phenomenal 47 percent of his starts, and his runners hit the board 77 percent of time.
The race for leading jockey was much closer, with Leandro Goncalves taking the horse betting title by a count of 88-80 over Ron Allen. Goncalves won the title despite riding in 135 fewer races than Allen.

Horse Betting Online: DULLAHAN had a lot going for him heading into Kentucky Derby 138. He was a two-time Grade I winner; he had shown that the horse betting distance would be right up his alley; and he was perceived as the best “closer” in a race in which the early pace figured to be hotly contested. What DULLAHAN did not have was a previous win over dirt, and after Kentucky Derby 138 he still did not.

Horse Betting Online: J. Paul Reddam certainly isn’t hurting for cash. He founded the mortgage loan company DiTech, and later sold the horse betting business to General Motors for a hefty sum. Now he owns CashCall, a similar lending company based in California. He has likely spent millions purchasing thoroughbreds, and he has won some big races – the 2004 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-G1 with Wilko and the 2006 Breeders’ Cup Turf-G1 with Red Rocks. And last Saturday he finally won the biggest race in America, the Kentucky Derby-G1, with a colt that cost just $35,000.

Horse Betting Online: If you were following the happenings surroundings of Kentucky Derby horse betting contenders EL PADRINO and GEMOLOGIST, who were stabled nearby at Palm Meadows, you saw where heavy rain hit the south Florida are last week. Thankfully for race fans, it only impacted the Sunday card, but moving every turf race to a sloppy main track did result in scratches.
Overall last week there were 41 live races, with fields averaging 7.8 starters. Fields of that size usually challenge horse betting handicappers a bit, but last week the public was right on the money – betting favorites won 46 percent of all races and only one winner for the entire horse betting week was above 7/1 odds. As a result, the average winning price last week was just $7.64.
